Someshwara temple at Magadi, 60 km west of Bengaluru, Karnataka, was built by Kempe Gowda II in 1569 CE. It's a beautiful Vijayanagara style temple with tall pillars and attractive carvings in spacious setting. Magadi was founded by the Chola rulers around 1139 CE. Magadi is also the birthplace of Kempe Gowda I, the Vijayanagara chieftain.
